How do I use a domain with my hosting account?

If you registered a domain with your hosting account when you signed up, you are already setup and good to build your website.

I registered my domain through Springs Hosting

If you recently bought a domain from us you will need to add it to your cPanel account before you can use it. This assumes you know how to login to cPanel.

  1. From the cPanel Dashboard, click on Addon Domains in the Domain box
  2. Type in your domain into the New Domain Name box (exclude www or http)
  3. Subdomain and Document Root will automatically fill in
  4. Click the Add Domain button

Your new domain is now ready to use in your hosting account. The Document Root is the location to put any website files.

My domain is registered with another company (ie. Register.com, GoDaddy, etc)

Springs Hosting nameservers:
ns1.springshosting.net
ns2.springshosting.net
ns3.springshosting.net
ns4.springshosting.net

In order to add your domain to cPanel, the nameservers must be pointing to Springs Hosting. Your nameserver settings must be changed at your existing registrar. Once this is done, you can follow the above steps to add your domain to cPanel.

If you receive the error, "Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server," this usually means the nameserver changes you made haven't had enough time to propagate. Depending on the circumstances, DNS records may take up to 48 hours to fully propagate.

If you can't change the nameservers for development or other reasons, please open a support ticket and one of our technicians can add it to your account for you.
