The guide below will walk you through setting up email on an Android Phone/Tablet using Gmail. You will need the following prerequisites before you begin.

- Know your email address and password
- Know what mail server you need to connect to. Where do I find this?
- Have an Android Phone/Tablet with the Gmail installed
Setting up Email on an Android Phone/Tablet using Gmail
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Tap Add Account
- Tap Personal (IMAP) or Personal (POP3) (from prerequisites)
- Enter your email address and tap Manual setup
- Select Personal (IMAP) or Personal (POP3) again (from prerequisites)
- Type in your password then tap Next
- On the Incoming server settings screen fill in the following fields then tap Next
- Enter your email address for the Username (if not filled)
- Enter your email password (if not filled)
- Enter Server (hostname from prerequisites)
- Port needs to be set to 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3) (from prerequisites)
- Change Security type to SSL/TLS
- On the Outgoing server settings screen fill in the following fields then tap Next
- Require signin needs to be checked
- Enter your email address for the Username (if not filled)
- Enter your email password (if not filled)
- Enter Server (hostname from prerequisites)
- Port needs to be set to 465 (from prerequisites)
- Change Security type to SSL/TLS
- Depending on if you selected POP or IMAP you may have additional option screens. These settings are a personal preference. If you are not sure about these options, leave them default.
