Resetting the Administrator Password in Joomla 1.5, 1.6 or 1.7

1) You will need to login to phpMyAdmin and go to the database for your Joomla install.

2) Once there look on the left side and click on jos_users.

3) Click the edit link on the row of the user you want to edit. As a reference you can see the usernames in the username column of each row to determine which row you need to edit.

4) In the password row replace everything in the value box with "433903e0a9d6a712e00251e44d29bf87:UJ0b9J5fufL3FKfCc0TLsYJBh2PFULvT" minus the quotes.

5) Scroll down and click on the go button.

Now go to your login and login using your username and the new password "admin" without quotes. Once logged in you will want to reset the password.
